Dental Sealants in Sarasota, FL

A simple, painless shield that protects teeth from decay.

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth where cavities most often form. The sealant flows into the deep grooves and pits of the tooth, creating a smooth barrier that keeps food and bacteria out. It is one of the easiest and most effective ways to prevent cavities—especially in children.

How They Work

Sealants at Luma

1

Clean

The tooth is thoroughly cleaned and dried to ensure a strong bond.

2

Apply

The liquid sealant is painted onto the grooves and pits of the tooth surface.

3

Cure

A curing light hardens the sealant in seconds, creating a durable protective layer.

The entire process takes just a few minutes per tooth, requires no drilling or anesthesia, and is completely painless.

Dental Sealants FAQ

Are sealants only for children?
No. While most commonly applied to children, adults with deep grooves and a history of cavities can benefit as well.
Do sealants contain BPA?
We use BPA-free sealant materials, consistent with our biological approach to dentistry.
How long do sealants last?
Sealants can last 5 to 10 years with normal wear. We check them at every visit and reapply if needed.
Are sealants painful?
Not at all. No drilling or anesthesia is needed. The process takes just minutes per tooth.
Do sealants replace brushing and flossing?
No. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces, but brushing and flossing are still essential for all other tooth surfaces.
Can I use my dental insurance for sealants?
Luma does not participate with dental insurance plans, so we do not file claims on your behalf. After your visit we will give you an itemized receipt, which you are welcome to send to your insurer if your plan offers out-of-network benefits. We go over the full cost of sealants with you before anything begins, so you always know what to expect.
